Working with Projects in the Workfront Mobile App

You can access your projects and edit the project information, documents, or manage the task and issue lists of the project in the Workfront mobile app.

Accessing Projects in the Mobile App

You can access a project in the Workfront Mobile app from the issue or task it is associated with or by tapping the Projects area in the Workfront navigation bar.

Accessing a Project from a Task or an Issue

Accessing a project from a task or an issue in the Workfront mobile app is identical. 

For example, to access a project from a task:

  1. Go to a task in the Workfront mobile app.
  2. Tap the task.
  3. In the Task or Details tab, tap the project name.

    The Project or Details tab of the project opens. 

Accessing a Project from the Projects Area 

NOTE If your system administrator customized the names of the objects in your instance, the Projects area  might be under a different name. For more information about customizing object names in Workfront, see the "Customizing Object Names" section in "Understanding Objects."

To access a project from the Projects area: 

  1. Tap the Projects icon in the bottom navigation bar.
  2. (Optional) Tap More Filters to filter or sort your projects. Otherwise, go to step 4.
  3. (Conditional and optional) Select from the following options:
    • Filter: Tap any of the following types of projects that you want to display in the list:
      - Projects I Own
      - Projects I'm On
      - Recent Projects
      - Complete Projects
    • Sort: Tap any of the following fields that you want to sort by:
      - Entry Date
      - Name
      - Portfolio
      - Planned Completion Date. This is the default sorting option. 
      You must select at least one filter or one sort option.
    • Order: Tap which order you want the items to be sorted by. Select from:
      - Ascending. This is the default sorting order.
      - Descending
    The following information about each project displays in the list:
    • Project name
    • Portfolio name
    • Percent Complete bar
    • Status
    • Planned Completion Date
    • Document icon (when a document is assigned to an issue)
  4. (Optional) Tap the magnifying glass and start typing a keyword to search for a project.
  5. Tap a project from the list.
    The Details tab of the project opens. 

Managing Projects in the Mobile App

You can manage information about a project in the mobile app, after you have accessed the project. 

There are several tabs with information for each project. Scroll from right to left to access all the project tabs.

Managing Project Information

  1. Go to a project in the Workfront mobile app.
    For more information about accessing a project in the mobile app, see "Accessing Projects in the Mobile App."

  2. Tap the name of the project to inline edit it.
    If the project belongs to a program or a portfolio, they are listed above the name of the project.
  3. In the Project tab, tap any field followed by an arrow or a three dot menu to edit it.
    The following project fields are displayed:
  4. (Optional) Tap Log Time to add time to the project.

  5. (Optional) Tap View in Browser to open this project in the browser of your mobile device.
  6. (Optional) Tap the More icon in the upper-right corner, then Share to copy a link to the project to another application or to the clipboard. 

Logging an Update for a Project

  1. Go to a project in the Workfront mobile app.
    For more information about accessing a project in the mobile app, see "Accessing Projects in the Mobile App."
  2. Tap the Updates tab.
    All updates that have been previously entered on the project, tasks, or issues display in the Updates tab. 
  3. Scroll through the list to find a specific one.
    Or
    Tap the Comment icon to create a new update.

  4. (Optional) To delete an update, see "Deleting a Comment from a Work Item."

Managing the Issues List

Viewing Project Documents

  1. Go to a project in the Workfront mobile app.
    For more information about accessing a project in the mobile app, see "Accessing Projects in the Mobile App."
  2. Tap the Docs tab.
    A list of documents attached to the project, tasks, or issues displays.
  3. Tap the name of the document that you want to view.
    By default, the Document or Details tab displays.

Editing a Project Custom Form

You can edit a custom form attached to a project in the Workfront mobile app if the custom form is already attached to the project. You cannot associate a new form with a project in the mobile app. 

To edit a custom form on a project using the mobile app:

  1. Go to a project in the Workfront mobile app.

  2. Tap the More tab. You might need to scroll from right to left to see the More tab.
    A project with no custom form attached does not display a More tab.
