Working with Projects in the Workfront Mobile App

 

You can access your projects in the Workfront mobile app and edit the project information, documents, or manage the task and issue lists of the project. 

Accessing Projects in the Mobile App

You can access a project in the Workfront Mobile app from the issue or task it is associated with or by tapping the Projects area on the Workfront home page.

Accessing a Project from a Task or an Issue

Accessing a project from a task or an issue in the Workfront mobile app is identical. 

For example, to access a project from a task:

  1. Navigate to a task in the Workfront mobile app.
  2. Tap the task.
  3. In the Task tab, tap the project name under the name of the task.

Accessing a Project from the Projects Area 

NOTE If your system administrator customized the names of the objects in your instance, the Projects area  might be under a different name. For more information about customizing object names in Workfront, see the "Customizing Object Names" section in "Understanding Objects."

To access a project from the Projects area: 

Navigate to the Workfront home page, then tap the Projects area.

  1. By default, you see the projects that are listed under the Projects I Own list.
  2. (Optional) Tap Projects I Own to see the following additional lists of projects:
    • Projects I'm On
    • All Projects
      The following information about each project displays in the list:
      • Project name
      • Portfolio name
      • Percent Complete bar
      • Status
      • Planned Completion Date
      • Document icon (when a document is assigned to an issue)
  3. (Optional) Tap the magnifying glass and start typing a keyword to search for a project. 
  4. Tap a project from the list.
    The Project tab of the project opens. 

Managing Projects in the Mobile App

You can manage information about a project in the mobile app, after you have accessed the project. 

There are several tabs with information for each project. Scroll from right to left to access all the project tabs.

Managing Project Information

  1. Navigate to a project in the Workfront mobile app.

  2. In the Project tab, tap any field followed by an arrow to edit it.
    The following project fields are displayed:
  3. (Optional) Tap Log Time to add time to the project.

  4. (Optional) Tap View in Browser to open this project in the browser of your mobile device. 
  5. (Optional) Tap the More icon in the upper-right corner, then Share to copy a link to the project to another application or to the clipboard. 

Logging an Update for a Project

  1. Navigate to a project in the Workfront mobile app.

  2. Tap the Updates tab.
    All updates that have been previously entered on the project, tasks, or issues display in the Updates tab. 
  3. Scroll through the list to find a specific one.
    Or
  4. Tap Share an Update to create a new update.

    (Optional) For more information about deleting an update, see "Deleting a Comment from a Work Item."

Managing the Tasks List

  1. Navigate to a project in the Workfront mobile app.
    For more information about accessing a project in the mobile app, see "Accessing Projects in the Mobile App."
  2. Tap the Tasks tab. 
    NOTE If your system administrator customized the names of the objects in your instance, the Tasks tab might be under a different name. For more information about customizing object names in Workfront, see the "Customizing Object Names" section in "Understanding Objects."
    The tasks on the project are displayed.
    By default, tasks are displayed in the order of the task number.

  3. (Optional) Tap the magnifying glass and start typing a keyword to search for a task. 
  4. Tap the name of a task to display information about the task.
  5. Select any of the following tabs to edit or add more information to the task:
    • Task
    • Updates
    • Subtasks
    • Issues
    • Docs
    • (Optional) More
      The More tab displays only when a custom form is attached to the task.

Managing the Issues List

  1. Navigate to a project in the Workfront mobile app.

  2. Tap the Issues tab. 
    NOTE If your system administrator customized the names of the objects in your instance, the Issues tab might be under a different name. For more information about customizing object names in Workfront, see the "Customizing Object Names" section in "Understanding Objects."
    The issues logged for the project or for any tasks on the project are displayed.
    By default, issues on the Open Issues list are displayed in the order of their entry date, starting with the most recent.

  3. (Optional) Tap Open Issues and select to display either the Closed Issues or All Issues lists. 
  4. (Optional) Tap the magnifying glass and start typing a keyword to search for an issue. 
  5. Tap the name of an issue to display information about the issue.
  6. Select any of the following tabs to edit or add more information to the issue:
    • Issue
    • Updates
    • Docs
    • (Optional) More
      The More tab displays only when a custom form is attached to the issue.

  7. (Optional) Tap New Issue to add issues to the task.

Viewing Project Documents

  1. Navigate to a project in the Workfront mobile app.
    For more information about accessing a project in the mobile app, see "Accessing Projects in the Mobile App."
  2. Tap the Docs tab. 
    A list of documents attached to the project, tasks, or issues displays.
  3. Tap the name of the document that you want to view.
    By default, the Document tab displays.

Editing a Project Custom Form

You can edit a custom form attached to a project in the Workfront mobile app if the custom form is already attached to the project. You cannot associate a new form with a project in the mobile app. 

To edit a custom form on a project using the mobile app:

  1. Navigate to a project in the Workfront mobile app.
    For more information about accessing a project in the mobile app, see "Accessing Projects in the Mobile App."
  2. Tap the More tab. You might need to scroll from right to left to see the More tab.
    A project with no custom form attached does not display a More tab.
