Working with Documents in the Workfront Mobile App

Viewing And Opening Documents

You can view documents that are associated with any tasks and issues that you are working on:

  1. Navigate to the Workfront home page.
  2. Tap Work.
  3. Tap the work item that contains the document that you want to view.
    Details about the work item are displayed, such as who it is assigned to, who it was requested by, the status, and so forth.
  4. Tap Docs.
  5. Tap the document that you want to view.
    Document details are displayed, such as the document name, description, owner, date added, and size.

  6. To view the document, do one of the following:
    • Tap Preview to view a preview of the document.
      Available only for image files (such as .png and .jpg) and PDF files.
    • From Preview, to open the document in a third-party app, tap the More icon, then tap Open With, and tap the name of the application that you want to open the document in. 
  7. (Optional) To add an update on the document, navigate back to the main page of the document, and tab the Updates tab.
  8. (Optional) Tap Share an update to add a new comment to the document, or Add Comment to add a comment to an existing update. 

Proofing a Document

You can quickly launch the Workfront Proof mobile app directly from the proof within the Workfront mobile app, and then add comments and make decisions on the proof.

If you are a proofing user within Workfront, you can even use the Workfront mobile app to generate a proof on a document. 

The Workfront Proof mobile app is available for all iOS and Android devices.

To create a proof for a document and open the proof within the Workfront Proof mobile app:

  1. Navigate to the Workfront home page.
  2. Tap Work.
  3. Tap the work item that contains the document that you want to view.
    Details about the work item are displayed, such as who it is assigned to, who it was requested by, the status, and so forth.
    Tap Docs.
  4. Tap the document for which you want to generate a proof or open within the Workfront Proof mobile app.
  5. (Conditional) If a proof has not already been generated for the document, tap the More icon, then tap Generate Proof.

    This option is available only when Proofing is enabled for the Workfront site and you have a proofing license.
  6. (Conditional) To open the proof within the Workfront Proof mobile app, tap the More icon, then tap Go to Proof.

    This option is available to all Workfront users; you do not need to have a proofing license.

    If you have already downloaded the Workfront Proof mobile app, the Workfront Proof mobile app is launched and the document is displayed.

    If you have not already downloaded the Workfront Proof mobile app, the Apple App Store or Google Play Store is launched and you are prompted to install the app.
