Viewing Notifications in the Workfront Mobile App

You can use the Workfront mobile app to view the same in-app notifications that display in Workfront on the web (as described in "Using In-App Notifications"). 

You can also configure the mobile app to allow you to deliver push notifications when something happens in Workfront. These notifications are delivered on your main screen before you open the app. 

Viewing In-App Notifications

You can view your in-app notifications from your mobile app. 

The same in-app notifications that you receive in the Workfront web application are also forwarded to your Workfront mobile app. You cannot configure which in-app notifications you receive. They are automatically set by Workfront.

The second time you access the Notifications area in the app, you are prompted to enable or disable push notifications.

To view notifications in the mobile app: 

  1. Tap Notifications in the bottom navigation bar.
    All notifications that you have not yet viewed display here.
  2. (Optional) Tap the More icon in the upper-right corner of the screen and select Show all.
    All notifications display here. The notifications that you have read have a white background, while the new notifications have a gray background.

    The following information is included in the notification, as it appears on the list:
    • The icon of the object that generated the notification. 
      You can receive notifications about the following objects:
      • Project
      • Task
      • Issue
      • Document
    • The name of the object that generated the notification.
    • The name of the parent object. 
    • An indication of what the notification is about. 
    • The name of the person who generated the notification.
    • The date and the time of the notification. 
  3. Do any of the following:

    • Tap a notification to open it, then read it.
    • Tap a notification to open it, then click the object title at the top of the screen to navigate to the object where the update that generated the notification was made.
    • Swipe an unread notification from right to left, then tap Seen to mark it as Seen.
    • Swipe a read notification from right to left, then tap Unseen to mark it as Unseen.
    • Tap the More icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, then tap Mark all as seen.

Understanding Push Notifications

Workfront sends you push notifications for various activities that happen in the system.

Consider the following when working with push notifications:

  • You must enable push notifications before you can start receiving them. They are not enabled by default. For information about enabling push notifications in your mobile app, see "Enabling Push Notifications."
  • You can perform actions in Workfront directly from some of the notifications. 
  • You cannot configure which actions generate a push notification. These actions are automatically set by Workfront. 

The following table illustrates the events that trigger push notifications in the mobile app and the actions you can take at the notification level:

Enabling Push Notifications

NOTE Push notifications are disabled if you log in to the mobile app using your Sandbox environment URLs. For more information about accessing the Preview Sandbox environment, see "Preview Sandbox Testing Environment." For more information about accessing your Custom Refresh Sandbox, see "Custom Refresh Sandbox Testing Environment."

To enable or disable push notifications in the Workfront mobile app:

  1. Tap the More icon at the bottom of your screen.

  2. Tap your name to access your profile page.
  3. Tap Settings, then enable the Push Notifications toggle.
  4. Tap the check mark icon or Done to save your settings. 

Accessing Items from Email Notifications

When receiving email notifications from Workfront on your mobile phone, you can open the items linked in the email in the Workfront mobile app by tapping the link in the email.
