Viewing Notifications in the Workfront Mobile App

The highlighted information on this page refers to functionality not yet generally available. It is available only in the beta version of the Workfront Mobile app.

Viewing Notifications

You can use the Workfront mobile app to view the same notifications that are displayed in Workfront on the web (as described in "Using In-App Notifications"). 

Viewing Notifications in the Mobile App

You can view your in-app notifications from your mobile app. 

The second time you access the Notifications area in the app, you are prompted to enable or disable push notifications.
For more information about push notifications, see the following section, "Configuring Push Notifications."

Depending on which version of the Workfront mobile app you are using, you can view notifications in different ways. 

Viewing Notifications on an iOS or Android Phone

  1. Navigate to the Workfront main menu and tap Notifications.
    All notifications that you have not yet viewed are displayed.
    The following information is included in the notification, as it appears on the list:
    • The icon of the object that generated the notification.
    • A brief preview about the information that the notification contains.
    • The name of the person who generated the notification.
    • The date and the time of the notification. 
  2. (Optional) To display all notifications, tap the Menu icon in the upper-right corner, then tap Show all.
    New notifications that you have not read have a blue dot next to them. 
    Notifications that you have read have a white dot next to them. 
  3. (Optional) Tap the Menu icon, then select Only show new, to view only unread notifications. 
  4. Tap the notification you want to view.
    When you open a notification, it is automatically marked as read. 

Viewing Notifications from the Workfront Beta App on an Android Phone

  1. Tap Notifications in the bottom navigation bar.
    All notifications that you have not yet viewed are displayed.
  2. (Optional) Tap the Menu icon and select Show all.
    The notifications that you have read have a white background, while the new notifications have a gray background.
    The following information is included in the notification, as it appears on the list:
    • The icon of the object that generated the notification.
    • A brief preview about the information that the notification contains.
    • The name of the person who generated the notification.
    • The date and the time of the notification. 
  3. Swipe an unread notification from right to left then tap Seen to mark it as seen. 
    Or 
    Tap the notification to open and read it.
    If you tap it to open it, it is automatically marked as Seen.

  4. (Optional) Tap the Menu icon in the upper right, then tap Mark all as seen.
    All notifications are hidden when you mark them as Seen. 

Configuring Push Notifications

Unless you have disabled push notifications for the Workfront app on your device, Workfront sends you push notifications for any events related to the following categories:

  • Comments
    • Someone includes me on a directed update.
    • Someone includes my team on a directed update.
    • Someone comments on a thread I'm in.
    • Someone comments on one of my work items.
  • Approvals
    • I need to approve a document.
    • I need to approve a timesheet.
    • I need to approve an issue.
    • I need to approve a project.
    • I need to approve a task.
  • Requests
    • A comment is posted on my request.
  • Assignments
    • I'm set as the primary assignee of a task.
    • I'm assigned to an issue.
  • Subscriptions
    • Update is made to an item I am subscribed to. 

NOTE Push notifications are disabled if you log in to the mobile app using your Sandbox environment URLs. For more information about accessing the Preview Sandbox environment, see "Preview Sandbox Testing Environment." For more information about accessing your Custom Refresh Sandbox, see "Custom Refresh Sandbox Testing Environment."

To enable or disable push notifications on your device when using an iOS or Android phone:

  1. From any page in the mobile app, tap the Menu icon in the upper-left corner of the page.
  2. Tap Settings, then enable or disable the Push Notifications option.

To enable or disable push notifications when accessing Workfront in the Android beta app:

  1. Tap the More icon at the bottom of your screen.

  2. Tap your name to access the Account page.
  3. Tap Settings, then enable or disable the Push Notifications option. 

Accessing Items from Email Notifications

When receiving email notifications from Workfront on your mobile phone, you can open the items linked in the email in the Workfront mobile app by tapping the link in the email.
