Updating or Editing a Work Item in the Home Area

The highlighted information on this page refers to functionality not yet generally available. It is available only in the Preview Sandbox environment.

NOTE The functionality described in this article is currently available in the Production environment as a Beta. If you are unable to use Home as described in this article, contact your system administrator.

You can view and add updates to a work item within the Home area in Workfront. You can also edit other data related to the work item if you have access to edit it.

Viewing Updates on a Work Item

You can view updates on any work item in the Work List:

  1. Navigate to the Home area.
    For information about accessing the Home area if it is not visible to you, see "Trying the Home Area."
  2. In the Work List area, select the item where you want to view updates.
    Updates are displayed in the right panel.
  3. (Optional) To filter system updates so only user updates are displayed, click Filter System Updates.

Providing Updates on a Work Item

You can provide updates on any work item in the Work List:

  1. Navigate to the Home area.
    For information about accessing the Home area if it is not visible to you, see "Trying the Home Area."
  2. In the Work List area, select the item where you want to provide an update.
  3. In the right panel, click Update to display a text field.

  4. In the provided field, specify your update.
  5. (Optional) Specify any of the following information:
    Commit Date: Select a date from the date picker when you commit to complete the work item.
    Condition: Select a new condition for the task or issue. For more information about task and issue conditions, see "Setting Condition on Tasks and Issues."
    Status: Select a new status for the task or issue. For more information about task statuses, see "Updating Task Status." For more information about issue statuses, see "Default Issue Statuses."
  6. Click Update.

Editing a Work Item

You can edit any field on any work item that you have access to edit.

  1. Navigate to the Home area.
    For information about accessing the Home area if it is not visible to you, see "Trying the Home Area."
  2. In the Work List area, select the item you want to edit.
    All fields you have access to view are displayed in the right panel.
  3. In the right panel, mouse over the field you want to edit.
    If you have rights to edit the field, the field is highlighted as you mouse over it.

  4. Click the field you want to edit, then make your desired update. 
    For example, to update the status, select the appropriate status from the Status drop-down menu.

  5. Click away from the field to save your changes.
