Viewing and Sending Announcements

The Announcements area serves as a centralized location for the following purposes:

NOTE Only users who are identified as system administrators by access level receive announcements from Workfront and are able to send announcements. 

Receiving and Reviewing Communications from Workfront

Workfront uses the Announcements area to communicate important information to system administrators. Announcement messages from Workfront can include information regarding new features and releases, process changes, and so forth.

Viewing Announcements

  1. Click the notification bubble next to your profile picture.
    Depending on the types of messages available, the color of the notification bubble varies:
    • The notification bubble is blue when you have unread announcement messages. You might also have other unread notifications in addition to unread announcement messages (as described in "Using In-App Notifications").
    • The notification bubble is orange when there are no announcement messages but you have other unread notifications (as described in "Using In-App Notifications").
    • The notification bubble is gray when there are no announcement messages or notifications.
  2. In the Announcements area, click an announcement that you want to view.
    Or
    To view all announcements, click the Announcements heading, or click View All Announcements.

    The Announcements area is displayed.
  3. Select the announcement message you want to view.
  4. (Optional) Download any attachments in PDF or Word format, or download all attachments as a ZIP file.

Managing Announcements

For information on how to manage announcements, such as marking announcements as favorites and deleting and undeleting announcements, see "Managing Announcement Notifications" in "Using In-App Notifications." 

Configuring What Types Of Announcements You Receive

By default, you receive all messages sent from Workfront. This is the recommended configuration.

Though Workfront sends a limited number of messages via the Announcements area, you can unsubscribe from receiving certain types of messages.

  1. In the Announcements area, click Settings.
  2. Select the topics for which you no longer want to receive messages.
  3. Click Save Settings.

Sending Announcements to Users

You can use the Announcements area to quickly communicate with users in your Workfront system. You can send announcements to specific users, groups, teams, or companies within your Workfront system.

You can forward an announcement that was sent from Workfront, or compose a new announcement.

Forwarding Announcements To Users

You can easily forward messages that you receive from Workfront to users in your system.

  1. In the Announcements area, select the message that you want to forward.
  2. Click Forward
  3. In the Send to field, begin typing the name of a user, group, team, or company who you want to receive the announcement message, then click the name when it appears in the drop-down list. Repeat this process to add multiple users, groups, teams, or companies.
    Or, to forward the announcement to all users in your system, begin typing Everyone, then click it when it appears in the drop-down list. 
  4. Continue with Step 3 in"Composing New Announcements."

Composing New Announcements

  1. In the Announcements area, click New Announcement.
  2. In the Send to field, begin typing the name of a user, group, team, or company who you want to receive the announcement message, then click the name when it appears in the drop-down list. Repeat this process to add multiple users, groups, teams, or companies.
    By default, when sending a new announcement message, 'Everyone' is pre-populated in this field. If you do not want all users in your system to receive the announcement message, remove 'Everyone' from the list.
  3. Specify the following additional information.
    Subject: Specify a subject for the announcement.
    Type message here: Specify the content of your message. The message editor enables you to include common markup, including bold, italics, underline, bulleted and numbered lists, and hyperlinks.
    Attachments: Click Add Attachment, then browse to and select the file you want to attach to the message.
  4. (Optional) Click Save As Draft to save the message (including the recipient list, subject, and attachments) as a draft.
    To view a draft, in the Announcements area, click Drafts. 
  5. Click Send.
    Users can now view the announcement message, as described in"Using In-App Notifications."
