Explanation

Availability

Sort and Group Items by Additional Fields on the Working On tab in the My Work area

System administrators have the option to display fields on tasks and issues on the Working On and Work Requests tabs that are not there by default. You can now sort items on the Working On and Work Requests tab based on these fields.

For more information about how to sort and group items by non-standard fields, see "Organizing Work on the My Work Page."

For information about how system administrators can add fields to be displayed in the Working On and Work Requests tabs in the My Work area, see"Customizing the Working On and Requests Tabs for My Work and Teams" in "Creating and Managing Layout Templates."

All Approvals in an Approval Process Are Displayed on the Updates Tab

Each time an approver participates in an approval process, an entry is made on the Updates tab in the object history, indicating who made an approval.

Previously, only the first approver and final approver were displayed on the Updates tab in the object history.

For more information, see "Using the Updates Tab to View Approval Status" in "Managing Approvals."

(Action Required) My Work and Team Views Are Changing

If alternate views for tasks or issues in the My Work area within your Workfront environment were created using Portal Profiles (the precursor to Layout Templates), you must re-create the views using a modern layout template, and then re-apply them.

If you do not re-create and re-apply the views, your current views will be replaced with the default layout template in your production environment on November 21, 2015.

To ensure that users in your system are not affected, re-create your old views and re-apply them to each team or user that is using a custom view, as described in "Customizing the Working On and Requests Tabs for My Work and Teams" in "Creating and Managing Layout Templates."

Thumbnails Are Displayed When Linking Documents from a Third-Party Application

(Available to Workfront DAM customers only)

When linking documents to Workfront from a third-party application, document thumbnails are now displayed for documents. This is especially useful for image files, because you can more easily see what files you are linking.

NOTE: This functionality is available only to Workfront DAM customers. Workfront DAM customers are able to view thumbnails when linking documents from any third-party application, such as Dropbox, Box, and Google Drive. However, thumbnails are never displayed when linking documents from SharePoint.

The new agile burndown chart provides the following improvements:

  • Actual burndown rate is displayed in relation to the ideal burndown rate.

  • Select a past day to view the status of the iteration as it was at a prior time. The burndown chart is updated based on the day that is selected.

  • Changes in iteration scope and date range are accurately reflected.

  • Ability to set a team schedule (define days off for the team) which is then reflected in the burndown chart.

  • More information detailing the iteration completion status, such as number of completed stories, number of completed hours or points, points per day, and estimated completion date.

  • Percent Complete of the iteration adjusts based on the Percent Complete of each story within the iteration.

For more information, see the Agile Burndown video.

Sending Announcement Messages to Users

For Administrators:

Workfront now allows administrators to send announcement messages to users. Administrators can send announcement messages to individual users, groups, teams, or companies.

There is now a single notification bubble for system administrators. Prior to this change, there was a notification bubble for work notifications, and a notification bubble for announcement messages sent from Workfront.

For Users:

Users can view announcement messages sent from the system administrator by clicking the notification bubble in the upper-right corner of the page. Users can then access the Announcements area to view any messages.

For more information, see the Sending Announcement Messages to Users video.

GA: Jan 23

Preview Sandbox

The Preview Sandbox (PrS) is available to all system administrators and any other users as defined by the system administrator. (For more information about the Preview Sandbox, see "Preview Sandbox Testing Environment.") This is the first opportunity that users in your organization have to review a feature before it is made available to Early Access environments and then made generally available.

Early Access

The Early Access (EA) environment is available to all system administrators and any other users as defined by the system administrator. (For information about how to configure Early Access settings, see "Configuring System Preferences.") Most features made available in Early Access were previously available in the Preview Sandbox.

* Indicates a lengthened EA release cycle in order to provide you with more time to become familiar with the feature.

General Availability

General Availability (GA) is when features are available to all Workfront users. Neither system administrators nor users can opt out of features in General Availability. Most features made generally available were previously available in the Preview Sandbox and Early Access environments.
