Using the Finish No Later Than Constraint
Finish No Later Than (FNLT) is a Task Constraint that schedules a task to complete before the date you specify.
To update the Task Constraint to Finish No Later Than:
- Navigate to a task whose Task Constraint you want to update.
- Click Edit Task.
- In the Overview section, expand the Task Constraint drop-down menu.
- Select Finish No Later Than.
- Specify a Planned Completion Date.
You must complete the task on and not later than this date. - Click Save Changes.
Understanding the Finish No Later Than Constraint
You should typically use this constraint when the project is scheduled From Start Date. In this case, you can provide a soft constraint on a task before it forces other dependent tasks to show as At Risk.
If FNLT is used with a Schedule From Completion Date project, then the constraint will schedule the task as it would an As Late As Possible task.
