Copying Dashboards

Workfront enables you to copy a dashboard and all of its contents (reports and calendars). When you copy the contents of a dashboard, you can choose to copy them or create new reports and calendars based on those you are copying.

To copy a Dashboard:

  1. Navigate to the dashboard that you want to copy by clicking 'Reporting,' then clicking the Dashboards tab.
  2. Select the dashboard that you want to copy, then click Copy.
    Or
Open the dashboard that you want to copy, then click Dashboard Actions > Copy.
The Dashboard Copy dialog box is displayed. All items on the original dashboard are displayed

  3. In the Dashboard Name field, specify a new name for the dashboard.
  4. Leave any reports, calendars, or lists selected that you want to appear on the new dashboard. Deselect any items that you do not want to appear on the new dashboard.\
For each selected item, choose from the following options:
    • Make a Copy: The item is copied from the original dashboard and a new version of that item is displayed on the new dashboard. Changes made to the item on the new dashboard are not reflected in the item on the original dashboard. Likewise, changes made to the item on the original dashboard are not reflected in the item on the new dashboard.
Use this option when you want to re-purpose the report to display different data in the new report than what is being displayed in the original report.
For example, suppose that you copy a dashboard called 'Team B' and rename it to 'Team A.'  On the 'Team B' dashboard there is a report called 'Team B Report.' Because this report contains data specific to Team B, you select the option to make a copy of this report.
    • Use Original: Displays the original item on the new dashboard. Changes made to the item on the new dashboard are also reflected in the item on the original dashboard. Likewise, changes made to the item on the original dashboard are reflected in the item on the new dashboard.
  5. (Optional) Rename any items that you selected.
  6. Click Copy Dashboard.
  7. (Optional) After copying a dashboard, you need to complete the following actions for any reports on the dashboard that you copied (If you selected the option to use the original report, completing these actions changes the settings on the original report):
    • Change Views, Filters, and Groupings for the report by navigating to the report and clicking Report Actions > Edit.
After copying a report, Views, Filters, and Groupings of the new report match the original report.
    • Reinstate permissions by navigating to the individual report and clicking Report Actions > Sharing.
After copying a report, all permissions that existed on the original report or calendar are eliminated.
    • If Run As permissions are being used, modify the Run As permissions.
After copying a report, Run As permissions are maintained only in the following circumstances:
(If none of these conditions are true, then Run As permissions are removed, and the new Run As user is changed to be the user who created the copy.)
      • If the user copying the dashboard and its reports has Administrator access rights.
      • If the user copying the dashboard and its reports is currently set as the Run As user for the reports being copied.
      • When Edit permissions have been set for an access level that permits editing.
(Run As permissions are set in a report by clicking Report Settings, and then in the Report Options section, specifying a name in the Run this report with the Access Rights of field.)
