The Project Owner field is used to identify the resource that will be acting as the project manager. There are certain notifications that can be enabled and sent solely to the Project Owner.
You can have only a single Project Owner.
A System Administrator can modify the Project Manager access level so the Project Manager can only access certain project options.
The Project Owner can be designated as the hours approver for the project. The Project Owner is also a wildcard option when defining project, task, or issue approvals processes.
When reporting on projects, refer to the Project Owner using the owner attribute. For example, a filter looking for projects owned by the logged in user would be ownerID=$$USER.ID. On the view, the column to display the Project Owner would be Owner :: Name.
To change the project owner:
- Navigate to the Projects area in the Global Navigation Bar.
- Click on the Project you want to change to owner of.
- Click the Project Details tab, the click Edit Overview.
- Enter the name of the person you want to be the Project Owner.
- Click Save.
