Start No Later Than

Using the Start No Later Than Constraint

Start No Later Than (SNLT) is a Task Constraint that schedules a task to start prior to the date you specify.

To update the Task Constraint to Start No Later Than:

  1. Navigate to a task whose Task Constraint you want to update.
  2. Click Edit Task.
  3. In the Overview section, expand the Task Constraint drop-down menu.
  4. Select Start No Later Than.
  5. Specify a Planned Start Date.
This is the date by which the task must start, and not later than this date.
  6. Click Save Changes.

Understanding the Start No Later Than Constraint

You should typically use the Start No Later Than constraint when the project is scheduled From Complete Date. In this case, you can provide a soft constraint on a task before it forces other dependent tasks to show as At Risk.

When you use SNLT with a Schedule From Start Date project, then the constraint will schedule the task as it would an As Soon As Possible task.
