Installing Workfront for Adobe Creative Cloud

To speed up the document review and approval process, you can export digital content you create in Creative Cloud applications to Workfront by using the Workfront for Adobe Creative Cloud extension. 

The following sections describe how to download and install Workfront for Adobe Creative Cloud. For information about how to use the extension after it is installed, see "Using Workfront for Adobe Creative Cloud."

Supported Applications

The Workfront extension is supported for the 2017 and 2018 versions of the following Adobe Creative Cloud applications:

  • InDesign
  • Illustrator
  • Photoshop

The extension is supported for both Adobe Cloud and desktop applications. 

Installing Workfront for Adobe Creative Cloud

You can download and install the Workfront for Adobe Creative Cloud extension in the following ways:

Downloading and Installing Workfront for Adobe Creative Cloud from Adobe Exchange

  1. Navigate to your Adobe Creative Cloud application.
  2. On the Creative Cloud tab, select Apps, and ensure that your apps are up-to-date.
  3. Click the More icon, then click Preferences.

  4. Click Creative Cloud, then click the Files tab.
  5. Ensure Creative Cloud Sync is enabled in the Sync On/Off section.

    You must enable the Creative Cloud Sync option to be able to download the Workfront extension from Adobe Exchange and that it is updated automatically when new versions are released. 
  6. In a web browser, log in to your Adobe account and navigate to Adobe Exchange (https://www.adobeexchange.com/creativecloud.html).
  7. Locate the Search Marketplace box and search for Workfront

  8. Click Workfront Extension.
  9. Next to the Workfront add-on, click Free to begin the installation process.
  10. When the installation completes, restart your computer and Workfront for Adobe Creative Cloud is added to your list of extensions for the supported applications. For information about verifying that the extension is installed, see the "Ensuring Workfront for Adobe Creative Cloud Installed Successfully" section in this article.

Downloading and Installing Workfront for Adobe Creative Cloud Manually 

  1. Go to Adobe Exchange:  https://www.adobeexchange.com/creativecloud.details.14393.html 
  2. Locate the Search Marketplace box and search for Workfront
  3. Click Workfront Extension.
  4. Click Free to continue with the installation, as described in the  "Downloading and Installing the Workfront for Adobe Creative Cloud from Adobe Exchange" section in this article.
    Or
    If the extension is listed as Acquired, click Download/ Install another way, then follow the steps described in "Download/ Install this extension using an Extension Install Utility."

  5. After you complete the installation, restart your Adobe applications.
  6. For information about verifying that the extension is installed, see the "Ensuring Workfront for Adobe Creative Cloud Installed Successfully" section in this article.

Ensuring Workfront for Adobe Creative Cloud Installed Successfully

To verify the installation was successful:

  1. Open one of the following supported applications on your computer: 
    • Adobe Illustrator
    • Adobe InDesign
    • Adobe Photoshop
  2. On the Window menu, click Extensions. 
    A list of installed extensions displays.

    If the extension is not listed, close your Adobe application and follow the steps in "Downloading and Installing Workfront for Adobe Creative Cloud Manually" to ensure the extension is downloaded and installed correctly.
    IMPORTANT Ensure that the Sync On/Off setting is enabled in Adobe Creative Cloud. For information about enabling Sync On/Off, see "Downloading and Installing Workfront for Adobe Creative Cloud from Adobe Exchange."
