Log Users Out after a Period of Inactivity

Workfront now requires system administrators to choose a timeframe when users will be logged out of the Workfront system after a period of inactivity.

Prior to this change, configuring the Workfront system to log users out after a period of inactivity was optional.

If prior to this change this setting in your environment was either disabled or set to 'On browser close,' the default selection for your environment is now '7 days of inactivity.'

For more information, see "Configuring System Security Preferences."

Enhancements When Scheduling a Report Delivery

Now when scheduling report deliveries, you can schedule multiple repeating deliveries for a single report. In addition, the delivery options are more robust.

Prior to this change, you could schedule only one delivery per report.

For more information, see "Setting Up Report Deliveries."

GA: Feb 20

Change to Dashboard Printing Layout When Windows Span Multiple Pages

When the ability to print a dashboard was first introduced in Workfront, the printed version of the dashboard layout would change slightly in order to prevent any window on the dashboard that fit on a single page from spanning multiple pages.

Because of printing issues resulting from this functionality, dashboard printing has been changed so that windows now span multiple pages.

For more information about printing dashboards, see "Printing Dashboards."

GA: Feb 20

Updated Teams View

The look and feel of the 'Teams' tab in the 'People' area has been updated.

  • The left sidebar has been removed.

Users can still use the drop-down list to view other teams and create new teams.

  • User avatars are displayed in a horizontal view rather than a list view. User names are displayed when hovering over the avatar.

Reorder Columns in Any List with Drag-and-Drop

You can change the order of columns in any list by dragging a column from one location and dropping it in another.

This is especially useful when viewing the Gantt chart and the list view simultaneously and the column that you want to view is not displayed on the left side of the page.

For more information, see "Modifying Column Width and Order."

Add a Descriptive Text Field to a Custom Form

A new field type called Descriptive Text has been added to allow the addition of text that an end-user can see on a form.

A hyperlink field has also been added to enable users to include a link on the custom data form. You can attach this descriptive field to any custom form and it is visible to any user who can access the form.

This custom form can also be added as a link or description on a column view.

For more information, see "Creating Custom Forms."

Outlook: Combined View for Tracking Meeting Notes and Meeting Time in Workfront

The options to log meeting time and notes to Workfront for an Outlook calendar item are now combined into a single view.

Prior to this change, in order to log meeting time and notes to Workfront for an Outlook calendar item required you to perform two separate actions.

For more information, see "Tracking Outlook Calendar Data in Workfront."

The new agile burndown chart provides the following improvements:

  • Actual burndown rate is displayed in relation to the ideal burndown rate.

  • Select a past day to view the status of the iteration as it was at a prior time. The burndown chart is updated based on the day that is selected.

  • Changes in iteration scope and date range are accurately reflected.

  • Ability to set a team schedule (define days off for the team) which is then reflected in the burndown chart.

For more information, see "Using an Aleternate Team Schedule for Burndown Charts" in "Creating and Managing Agile Teams."

  • More information detailing the iteration completion status, such as number of completed stories, number of completed hours or points, points per day, and estimated completion date.

  • Percent Complete of the iteration adjusts based on the Percent Complete of each story within the iteration.

For more information, see "Using the Agile Burndown Chart."

Export any Report or Dashboard when Using the Kick-Starts Exporter

The Kick-Starts exporter now allows you to choose from all reports and dashboards in your system when exporting. You can export up to 100 reports and 100 dashboards simultaneously.

Previously, the Kick-Starts exporter allowed you to choose only from an arbitrary sub-set of the reports and dashboards in your system.

Ability to Create Sub-Groups and Add Group Owners

Workfront now supports sub-groups. You can create a new group as a sub-group to an existing group, or you can make an existing group a sub-group to another existing group.

Sub-groups can be up to 3 levels deep. For example, you can have Group 1, Sub-group 2 as a child of Group 1, and Sub-group 3 as a child of Sub-group 2.

For information about how to create a sub-group, see "Creating a Group."

A new column was added to Workfront reporting called 'Group Owners.'

For more information, see "Understanding Columns."

NOTE: This functionality will be initially available in February 2016 only within the Preview Sandbox.

Preview Sandbox

The Preview Sandbox (PrS) is available to all system administrators and any other users as defined by the system administrator. (For more information about the Preview Sandbox, see "Preview Sandbox Testing Environment.") This is the first opportunity that users in your organization have to review a feature before it is made available to Early Access environments and then made generally available.

Early Access

The Early Access (EA) environment is available to all system administrators and any other users as defined by the system administrator. (For information about how to configure Early Access settings, see "Configuring System Preferences.") Most features made available in Early Access were previously available in the Preview Sandbox.

* Indicates a lengthened EA release cycle in order to provide you with more time to become familiar with the feature.

General Availability

General Availability (GA) is when features are available to all Workfront users. Neither system administrators nor users can opt out of features in General Availability. Most features made generally available were previously available in the Preview Sandbox and Early Access environments.
