Modifying Web Proofing Viewer Configuration Settings

You can set various configurations in the Web Proofing Viewer.

Configuring Comment Markups and Pins to Display

You can configure whether to display the comment marks (made with the markup tools) and the numbered pins (indicating where comments are added) that reviewers add to proofs. If you configure them not to display, you can see them when you click a comment in the comment list.

  1. In the Web Proofing Viewer, in the toolbar on the left, click the Settings icon.

    The Settings options appear.
  2. Click Show markups to enable or disable it.
  3. Click Show pins to enable or disable it.

Configuring Markup Tools to Always Display

By default, the markup tool options display in a menu you open have to open with a click. You can configure them to display all the time across the top of the proofing viewer for quicker access when you switch between them.

To configure the markup tools to always display in the Web Proofing Viewer:

  1. In the Web Proofing Viewer, in the toolbar on the left, click the Settings icon.

    The Settings options appear.

  2. Click Use expanded markup tools to enable or disable it.

Configuring the Desktop Proofing Viewer as the Default for All Proofs

By default, static and video proofs open in the Web Proofing Viewer in your web browser, and interactive proofs open in the Desktop Proofing Viewer (interactive proofs cannot be opened in the Web Proofing Viewer).

Users can configure the Desktop Proofing Viewer as the default viewer for all types of proofs (static and video, as well as interactive). For more information about this setting, see "Desktop Proofing Viewer in the article, "General Proof Settings".

To configure the Desktop Proofing Viewer to launch with all types of proofs:

  1. In the Web Proofing Viewer, in the toolbar on the left, click the Settings icon.

    The Settings options appear.

  2. Enable the option Use desktop app as default.

Configuring How Hyperlinks Open within the Desktop Proofing Viewer

NOTE This option is available only when using the Desktop Proofing Viewer.

Some links in interactive web content are set to open in a new browser tab or window. You can configure Workfront to open all such links within the Desktop Proofing Viewer, allowing reviewers to proof the newly opened content.

  1. In the Web Proofing Viewer, in the toolbar on the left, click the Settings icon.

    The Settings options appear.
  2. Under Where would you like to open the link, select from the following options:
    • Open always inside Proofing Viewer: Links are always opened within the Desktop Proofing Viewer. You can proof the linked content.
    • Open always in the browser: Links are always opened within the browser. You are not able to proof the linked content.
    • Always ask (default option): You are prompted each time whether you want to open the link within the Desktop Proofing Viewer or in the browser. If you open the link within the Desktop Proofing Viewer, you can proof the linked content. If you open the link in the browser, you are not able to proof the linked content.
